Love Mother Earth Mural:
Uplifting Detroit's Voices

12598 Visger St, Detroit, MI

Bringing environmental awareness and activism to the most polluted zip code in the state of Michigan. Plagued with heavy industry and few regulations to protect the community from pollution, we engaged with local community members to bring awareness to the growing environmental issues in Ecorse and River Rouge within Detroit.

The Creative Process:

1.

Choosing the site: Visger St is a heavily trafficked area of town and this closed neighborhood general store provided potential for two walls, and thus views for all who travel along the road. Prime visibility to the public.

3.

Mock ups: to-scale drawings experimenting with color palette and layout for the ideal mural.

After cleaning and priming the walls, we began base painting the base coat.

4.

Using our mock-up as a guide, we began to paint the details and installed new, painted boards over the windows.
